Between the rain clouds, the moon partially blocks the sun in Lagos, November 3, 2013 at 2:30pm. It is a rare hybrid eclipse due to “ an annular eclipse along the very first 15 seconds of its track before transitioning to a total as the Moon’s shadow sweeps just close enough to the Earth to cover the disk of the Sun along the remainder of its track.”- David Dickinson, universetoday.com.

This is so impressive and we are grateful to you to capture such an interesting moment all the way from west Africa! Thanks, Les, great picture!
Thank you for your impression. The day was sunny and I was waiting, waiting, finally the light began to fade, clouds formed and filtered the sun rays to enable me to take an amateur photo. Without the clouds, I would not have been so lucky. Lesley
Cool! Did this happen already on the 3rd or is it coming on the 13th? Was there a picture? somehow I couldn’t find one so am guessing this was just to let us know it’s still coming up. I just learned that my kids in San Diego, John O and Estella (both Acholi) are expecting their third child, second daugher on March 19. This may cause me to scrap my already tenuous plans to visit Egypt this spring… Love, Mary Lyn
The eclipse happened on November 3rd and I took the picture from my garden. The 13th was a typo…sorry for that mistake.
